چکیده

Understanding disease of the Cranial Cruciate Ligament The CCL is one of the most important stabilizers of the knee. It prevents hyperextension, limits internal rotation, and prevents the tibia (shin bone) from sliding forward each time the leg bears weight. When the CCL is damaged, the result is an unstable knee. This instability results in pain and inflammation. Over time, debilitating arthritis develops.

Clinical comparison of a novel extracapsular stabilization procedure and tibial plateau leveling osteotomy for treatment of cranial cruciate ligament deficiency in dogs.

OBJECTIVE To develop and test a novel extracapsular technique, TightRope CCL technique (TR), and compare its 6-month clinical outcomes to tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) in dogs with cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) deficiency. STUDY DESIGN Prospective clinical cohort study. ANIMALS Medium, large, and giant breed dogs (n=47) with CCL deficiency. METHODS Before clinical use, TR was...

Surgical treatment of a proximal diaphyseal tibial deformity associated with partial caudal and cranial cruciate ligament deficiency and patella baja.

INTRODUCTION Caudal cruciate ligament injury can be a complication following tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) (Slocum und Slocum, 1993) especially if the post-operative Tibial Plateau Angle (TPA) is less than 5 degree. We describe a case of negative TPA associated with partial cranial and caudal ligament rupture treated with a center of rotation of angulation (CORA) based cranial tibial...

Comparison of long-term outcomes associated with three surgical techniques for treatment of cranial cruciate ligament disease in dogs.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate long-term (>1 year) outcomes with respect to function and complications in dogs undergoing TightRope (TR), tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO), or tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) for treatment of cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) disease. STUDY DESIGN Retrospective clinical cohort study. METHODS Medical records from 2006 to 2009 were searched and cases included ...

OBJECTIVE To determine effects of early intensive postoperative physiotherapy on limb function in dogs after tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) for deficiency of the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL). ANIMALS 8 adult dogs with CCL deficiency. PROCEDURE After TPLO, dogs underwent a physiotherapy program 3 times/wk (physiotherapy group; n = 4) or a walking program (home-exercise group; 4)...
